Love: It's Never Too Late to Learn!

Good surprises come in the most unexpected forms!  One delightful one was the little book, LIFE PROMISES FOR COUPLES by Gary Chapman.  When I first saw it I thought there would be nothing new for a couple who have been married for a lifetime.  But it has been a tender twig that has blossomed with new and beautiful growths to enrich our marriage.  My husband reads it aloud for us each night and it has become a time we both look forward to!

The Promise page offers us God's Truths for the marriage relationship and the Devotion page opposite draws a picture in word form of how we should apply those Truths.  As the book so aptly puts it:

Too many couples view the wedding as the finish line of their relationship.  They work and work to make it to their wedding day, and then they sit back and wait for 'happily ever after' to begin.
A good marriage does not happen on it's own but requires a continual pursuit of the true meaning of love.  That word has become meaningless in the sad forms it is tossed around in throughout our world today.  It is vital for a married couple to understand God's true meaning of the word and practice it wholeheartedly in their covenant relationship.  This little gem of a book is an excellent tool to help with this!

Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.  (Timothy 4:12)
