It's Never Too Late

Yesterday was my friend Gayle's birthday...what a difference a year makes!  Last year at this time, Gayle's future looked bleak.  She had come from a life on the streets to a home for troubled women.  Life there was strict and hard.  She had no money and few worldly belongings.  At age 49, she was unsure of what the future held for her.  But then she began to focus on JESUS and HIS teachings.  I watched her begin to let all the walls she had built long ago, come tumbling down.  In their place, I saw Gayle being surrounded by pure unconditional love.  It begain to transform, heal, and renew this heartbroken and weary woman.  Before my eyes, her physical appearance even began to change.  A new softness and glow shown from her.  She began to love and care for others who were there with her.  Gayle spent many hours seeking and studying GOD's WORD, while always serving others quietly and with joy.

It is a year later now and several months ago she moved into a comfortable home with a friend in order to complete her EMT courses.  She just did so and is getting prepared to embark on a new journey.  One that I know will be filled with good things because she has learned the key to happiness: loving God and loving others!

Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.

Mark 12:29-31

The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no commandment greater than these.”
